Being Head of Design at a web3 company wasn’t something I thought I’d ever be able to say. But during my contract, I levelled up my skills delivering the companies new digital website with a mix of UI/UX Design and 3D exploration, Spline + Threejs animations, AI Voice and connecting to Greenhouse API’s for careers.

Brand Identity Stacked
While I didn’t create the brand identity, I was in charge of expanding on the brand with everything that surrounded it.
One of the biggest challenges was reimagining the way the company portrayed themselves and creating some sort of visual that allowed that to happen. Below, i’ve broken down how I got here.
3D Brand Logo Sculpture / Obelisk Modelling
01
Once I had some sort of general target as to how I wanted to shape my ideas, I researched for some visual references.
Throughout this process, I started discovering images, but then started remembering things from my past, like the Arrival movie and Stargate.

02
While I’m particularly fond of using Blender, this time I decided to jump into Spline, as I had the intention of using it in the website as well.
I recreated the Eiger logo, based on the baseline foundations that I’d set out; portal, obelisk, ancient ruin, space ship.

03
I helped Eiger by mapping out a full sitemap and content flow plan.
However, due to time and staff limitations, some of the pages had not been designed or developed yet.

04
I was able to take ownership on the front-end strategy and development plan, so I chose my usual stack.
React, Nextjs, GSAP, Motion, Threejs, Spline, Globe.gl, DatoCMS, Greenhouse API and Vercel.

05
I tried several different animations in Spline, to figure out how I was going interact with it. I opted for a scroll based solution, but when transporting this to my Nextjs project, it would not work as intended.
I spent a lot of time reconfiguring my 3D scene, redeveloping the integration in 3 or 4 different ways, it was a nightmare.
The method I got working was to use Spline to host and pull in the model, then use Three.js to expand the scene items and control it with GSAP.

UI Design Tooltips
Designing and also building the entire agency website full of engineering prowess and having it well received is something I’m proud to carry.
There were several features within the project that I’d never done before, having only my self-confidence to push through and achieve a new level in web development. Two features that include 3D / Webgl, and a traditional slider that I managed to give a 3D look & feel.
For unknown reasons, the site hasn’t gone live. So for now, a live preview can be provided privately, just shoot me a message.
